Post-lunch, we transition to a 4×4 vehicle, embarking on a thrilling drive to the edge of the bamboo forest, marking the beginning of our trek. A 10-kilometer hike through the dense bamboo forest leads us to the charming Mount Kenya Bandas, where we’ll relish a hearty dinner and settle in for the night.

Day 2: Mount Kenya Bandas to Lake Ellis Campsite

After a sumptuous breakfast and organizing porter loads, we set forth on our ascent, maintaining a comfortable pace. The trail unfolds to reveal stunning vistas of Mugi, Ithanguni, and the Giants Billiards Table, enhancing our journey with unparalleled beauty. Opting for the slightly longer route via Lake Ellis, we are treated to panoramic views before ascending to Lake Ellis Campsite at an elevation of 3,600 meters. Nestled amidst nature’s splendor, we indulge in a tranquil lunch by a babbling stream, before continuing our trek to the serene campsite, away from the bustling tourist spots.

Day 3: Lake Ellis to Minto’s Camp

As dawn breaks, we embark on another day of exploration, venturing off the beaten track to follow a ridge up the mountain. Revel in the mesmerizing vistas of the Gorges Valley as we ascend to join the tourist track on the Chogoria route. A leisurely lunch by a pristine stream rejuvenates our spirits before we press on towards Minto’s Camp at an altitude of 4,200 meters. Take a moment to explore the remarkable “Temple,” a vertical cliff offering unparalleled views that will leave you in awe.

Day 4: Minto’s to Austrian Hut

Our journey continues with a trek along the foot of colossal rock walls, granting us an unparalleled perspective of Mount Kenya’s grandeur. Ascend to Tooth Col and traverse until you reach the Austrian Hut, where a warm meal and comfortable accommodations await, allowing you to recharge for the adventures ahead.

Day 5: Austrian Camp to Point Lenana and Mackinder’s Camp
